13 May 2016
HKU University Artist Trey Lee will be performing on HKU’s Grand Hall stage for the first time at 7:30 pm tomorrow (May 14, Saturday) in an event co-presented by the HKU Cultural Management Office and the University Artists Scheme supported by Dr Alice Lam. Trey Lee will present a wide range of repertoire with esteemed Italian pianist Bruno Canino and violinist Gian Paolo Peloso. The performance will also include collaborations with talented young musicians from the Department of Music's Advanced Music Performance course. Together, they will delight the audience with their phenomenal energy.
Hailed as "the excellent cellist... with enveloping richness and lyrical sensitivity" by the New York Times, Trey Lee has been awarded several major international prizes and has appeared in important venues worldwide. His virtuoso playing and dedication to charitable causes are an inspiration to young people in Hong Kong and overseas.
Sharing the stage with Trey is truly a precious experience for the students. They will present a fine selection of both classical and creative pieces, including 12 Variations of Beethoven, Cafe 1930 by Piazzolla, The Worship by Kwan Sheng-Yau, and commissioned works by HKU composer Gordon Fung Dic-lun.
