The Faculty of Education, in support of the University of Hong Kong (HKU)’s initiative to strengthen knowledge exchange, actively engages in knowledge sharing with the public by organising a series of education seminars for teachers and parents since 2010. Past seminars on a wide range of topics, such as Mathematics, English, Chinese, Information Technology, play education, use of voice, creativity, private tutoring, parent-child relationship, early childhood education, social media and bilingual proficiency, were well received by teachers and parents.
The 17th education seminar on “Double Management: Management of Young Children to Facilitate Self-management” will be organised in May 2021. In the seminar, Dr Rhoda Wang, Lecturer, and Ms Rita Ng, Assistant Lecturer of our Faculty, will address parents’ worry of their children’s readiness in transition to primary school under the new normal of a lack of face-to-face classes and school routine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This seminar aims to help parents understand more about their children’s developmental needs, so as to help young children arrange more appropriate and effective home learning activities and prepare them for primary school.
