The impact of miscarriage on women is widely acknowledged, yet its effects on couples are less examined. To better comprehend a couple’s interdependence in grief and coping mechanisms following a miscarriage, an online study titled "Couple’s Interdependence in Grief and Coping After Pregnancy Loss in Hong Kong" was conducted from September to October 2024.
The online survey, co-led by Professor Paul Wai Ching Wong, Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), and Professor Celia Hoi Yan Chan, Professor in the Social Work Department at The University of Melbourne, examined the grief interdependence and coping flexibility of couples following a miscarriage in Hong Kong. Data from 246 couples, collected through community networks and social media platforms, were analysed. The findings on the mental health impact of miscarriage on couples, their grief interdependence, and coping strategies will be shared.
Professor Wong and Professor Chan will present the survey findings at a media briefing on January 14 (Tuesday).
