Pearl for the World project - Press Conference and Open Exhibition
02 Oct 2009
Pearl for the World project brings forward a generic sustainable development framework for the entire HKSAR for the coming 50 years and beyond. The project particularly addresses Hong Kong's ever increasing population which is predicted to reach 9 million by 2050 as forecasted in the UN Population Reports.
The project is coming to the first stage of fruition for open exhibition, which will be held at the University of Hong Kong from October 6 to October 8. Visitors are invited to a miniature tour on a map outlining a future Hong Kong with new land use concepts and green links. Exhibits on the map includes transparent models on the proposed West Kowloon Park and an innovative design of sustainable premium class residential units at the site; and a system of eight flagship parks consisting of a conglomerate of adjacent and linked parks at the centre of the territory.
Members of the press are cordially invited to a press conference for a preview of the exhibits on October 5 (Monday). Professor K P Cheung, Associate Professor of the Department of Architecture and principal investigator of the project, will give a briefing on the blueprint, to be followed by a tour of the exhibits.
