Rule of Law Education (ROLE)
Play Your ROLE in Promoting The Rule of Law
The Rule of Law Education Project (ROLE) is initiated by a number of law professors, solicitors, barristers, tertiary and secondary school teachers, social workers, NGO administrators and law students with conviction to provide pro-bono efforts to promote Rule of Law. It is one of the knowledge exchange initiatives of the Faculty of Law of The University of Hong Kong aiming to bridge between the community and legal education.
The Rule of Law is generally regarded as one of the core values of the Hong Kong society. However, although most legal practitioners and law students have some general concepts about the Rule of Law, many of us (let alone citizens without any legal background) feel that we have some difficulties in articulating the core concepts, principles and ultimate goals of the Rule of Law. The ROLE Project commits to promote a better understanding and more informed debates of legal and social issues pertaining to the Rule of Law among legal practitioners, law students and the Hong Kong citizens.
As one of the steps in furtherance of the ROLE Project, a research program and website has been established with the support of the Faculty of Law of The University of Hong Kong
